The Flamingo Clinic — medical aesthetics

Your journey

What Happens at Your Consultation

Your first appointment is a proper clinical consultation, not a sales conversation. It usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, and you are never committed to treatment on the day.

  1. 1

    Medical history review

We go through your full medical history, medications, allergies, previous treatments and anything relevant to your skin. This is what allows a nurse prescriber to treat safely rather than cosmetically.

  2. 2

    Honest skin assessment

We look at your skin properly, in good light, and talk about what is actually driving your concerns — which is often not what you expected. You will get a straight answer about what treatment can and cannot change.

  3. 3

    Discussing your options

We set out the realistic options, including doing nothing, with the likely results, costs, downtime and risks of each. Where a prescription medicine may be appropriate, that discussion happens here, face to face.

  4. 4

    Informed consent and cooling-off

If you decide to proceed, we go through written consent covering risks, side effects and aftercare. For new treatments you are welcome to take time to think it over and book separately.

  5. 5

We will say no when we should

If a treatment is not clinically appropriate, unlikely to give you the result you want, or if something needs a GP or dermatologist instead, we will tell you and decline. That is part of the service, not a failure of it.

What to bring

  • A list of any medications and supplements you take
  • Details of any previous aesthetic treatments and roughly when they were
  • Your current skincare routine, or the products themselves
  • Any questions you have written down — no question is too small

All patients must be 18 or over. We may ask for photographic ID.
